The CONTOUR NEXT USB meter enables you to record and organise the information you need to make sense of the results you get, such as marking carbohydrate. At the present time, programming guides are available for the following blood glucose meters: CONTOUR ® NEXT, CONTOUR ® NEXT USB, CONTOUR ® USB, CONTOUR ® NEXT EZ, CONTOUR ®, CONTOUR ® LINK, CONTOUR ® TS, and BREEZE ® 2. If you own a The BREEZE® 2, CONTOUR®, CONTOUR® LINK, CONTOUR®XT or CONTOUR®NEXT meter, you will need to request a data cable to connect your meter to your computer. There are two versions of the Ascensia data cable offered, one for use with a computer's USB data port, and the other that uses a computer's serial port.

The CONTOUR NEXT meter uses a USB 2.0 A Male to Micro B 5-pin male cable to transfer data from the meter to a computer. The is available in the electronics department of most retail stores or from a mobile phone store. This cable is compatible with many smartphones, such as the Motorola™ Droid, HTC Evo®, and newer Blackberries, so you may already have this type of cable.
